I love when a movie knows how to make you just forget about everything else for a while still giving you a solid entertaining time that doesn’t take itself too seriously and that’s exactly what this movie succeeds at.
The story of this movie is a whodunit mystery that pokes fun of the predictability and repetition of the genre while setting up and spoiling its own ending in a beautifully crafted manner, the story is great, the script witty and the twists are fun and designed so that you see them coming.
Set in 1950s London the set design of the movie is stunning and the entire cast is brilliant at what they do. The absolute standout here is Saoirse Ronan as a new constable assisting on the case, her acting and comedic timing are everything in this movie and her chemistry with Sam Rockwell who plays the detective is extremely entertaining.
The fast pace storytelling of this movie and its short runtime of about 90 minutes really feeds into what made me enjoy the experience as much as I did.
If you decide to check this movie out I hope you enjoy it as much as I did and I’d love to hear your thoughts.
